Carrie Swails has diverse work experience in various industries. Carrie initially embarked on their career as a Teacher and Administrative Assistant at the City of Fort Collins Parks and Recreation from 2004 to 2008. Following this, they worked as a Pre Kindergarten Teacher at Bright Horizons from 2008 to 2010. Simultaneously, they started their own business, Carrie Swails Photography, in 2008 and served as the Small Business Owner until 2021.

In 2012, Carrie took on a Marketing Strategy role at Photography Awesomesauce until 2017. Additionally, they worked as a Photography Adjunct Professor at Community College of Aurora from 2014 to 2015 and as a Studio Art Adjunct Professor at Colorado Northwestern Community College from 2017 to 2018.

Transitioning into a different industry, Carrie worked as a Third Grade Teacher at Parkview Elementary School from 2018 to 2020. Subsequently, they held the position of Product Marketing Manager, Core, at Nearpod from 2020 to 2022.

Their most recent positions include Lead Product Marketing Manager, Ecommerce & Integrations, at Teachable from 2022 to 2023, and currently, they are employed as a Product Marketing Manager at Quizizz, starting in June 2023.

Carrie Swails has a diverse education history. In 2008, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in K-12 Art Education from Colorado State University. Carrie later pursued additional certifications, including the Orton Gillingham Basic Language Level 1 from the Orton Gillingham Online Academy in October 2020, and the Add+Vantage Math Recovery Course 2 (AVMR 2) and Add+Vantage Math Recovery Course 1 (AVMR 1) from the US Math Recovery Council® in June 2020 and June 2019, respectively. Carrie also obtained a Colorado Professional Teaching License in Elementary Education (K-6) and Visual Arts (K-12) from the Colorado Department of Education in July 2020.

More recently, Carrie engaged in further education by completing the Master Gardener Certification program at Colorado State University from 2020 to 2021. Carrie also participated in the Master Beekeeper Program at the University of Montana during the same period. In 2021, they pursued a certificate in Product Marketing from Cornell University. Additionally, they enrolled in a program at the Product Marketing Alliance, starting in 2021 and set to end in 2022, to further enhance their understanding of the field.
