Katrien Grünberg

Katrien Grünberg has a diverse work experience in the field of pathology. Katrien is currently a Member of The Supervisory Board at Palga Foundation since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Radboudumc, where they held multiple roles including Medical Director of the Center for Diagnostics and Counseling, Professor of Pathology and head of the department of Pathology, and Quartermaster Medical Director of Radboudumc Center for Diagnostics and Counseling. Katrien was also involved in the Bigpicture project as a Co-Coordinator, where they contributed to the development of an ethical and regulatory compliant community-based platform for pathology images and artificial intelligence algorithms. Katrien Grünberg also served in various roles at Nederlandse Vereniging Voor Pathologie, including Past President, council member, and President of the Dutch Society of Pathology. Katrien was the Lead Project Manager at Netwerk-PATH and worked as a Surgical Pathologist at VU medisch centrum, specializing in thoracic pathology, renal pathology, and cytopathology. Katrien also briefly served as the Regional coordinating pathologist for Bevolkingsonderzoek at Bevolkingsonderzoek Midden-West.

Katrien Grünberg obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam between 1985 and 1992. Katrien pursued further education at Leiden University from 1994 to 2000, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medicine. Prior to that, they completed their VWO (pre-university education) at Cals College Nieuwegein from 1978 to 1984. Katrien's primary education was at De Kleine Wereld from 1972 to 1978. Later, they focused on Pathology/Experimental Pathology and completed a Residency in Surgical Pathology at VU medisch centrum from 2000 to 2005.
