Fan Xu

Fan Xu is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in software development and engineering leadership. Currently serving as a Lead Engineer at Rakuten since March 2023, Fan has held significant positions such as Principal Software Engineer at ViSenze, where the ViSearch Image Search SaaS platform was architected and implemented from November 2012 to February 2023. Prior to this, Fan was the Head of Engineering and a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore, focusing on web-scale image search and recognition. Additionally, experience as a Research Scientist/Senior Software Engineer at Carestream Health involved X-ray medical image enhancement and processing. Fan Xu holds a PhD in Computer Vision and a B.S. in Communication Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
