Nuno Loureiro

Data Engineer and Data Science Consultant at Rancho BioSciences

Nuno Loureiro has a diverse work experience in various industries. Nuno is currently working as a Data Engineer and Data Science Consultant at Rancho BioSciences since August 2022. Prior to this, they founded and worked as the Tech Lead at Oligo, an all-in-one platform that delivers tailored research to physicians and researchers based on their needs and interests. Nuno also served as the Head of Data Science & Development at +ATLANTIC from August 2021 to August 2022 and as an Engineer & Project Manager from February 2021 to July 2021. Nuno worked as an Engineering Consultant and Postdoctoral Researcher at Champalimaud Foundation from March 2020 to February 2021.

Nuno Loureiro also has experience as a Founder and Tech Lead at mindreachOrg, a role they held from 2016 to 2021. Nuno completed their PhD in the field of neuroscience from Champalimaud Foundation & École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. During their PhD, they focused on EEG-based Brain-Machine Interface (BMI), studying the dynamics of learning and potential applications in robotics and space. Furthermore, Nuno worked as an Engineer in the Mechanism Section at the European Space Agency as a Portuguese Trainee from April 2011 to October 2012. Nuno also gained experience as a Research Grant in Plasma Physics at the Group of Lasers and Plasmas (GoLP) from October 2010 to March 2011, where they developed tools for a PIC code and simulated laser-plasma interactions.

Nuno Loureiro's early work experience includes a Master's Thesis on Space Propulsion in cooperation with EADS Astrium, where they focused on modeling electric propulsion's plasma and studying the expansion of plasma plumes ejected by electric thrusters.

Nuno Loureiro completed their education with a Master of Science (MSc) in Engineering Physics from Instituto Superior Técnico, starting in 2005 and ending in 2010. In 2009 to 2010, they also pursued an Erasmus Student & Master's Project in Engineering Physics and Space Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Additionally, in 2012, Nuno Loureiro attended the International Space University, where they participated in the Space Studies Program and focused on General Space Studies.
