Joshua Engelsma

Joshua Engelsma is a Senior Scientist at ROC, focusing on the development of fingerprint recognition technologies since September 2022. Previously, Joshua worked at Amazon as an Applied Scientist from June 2021 to September 2022, contributing to contactless palm-print recognition technology for payments as part of the Amazon One team. Joshua earned a PhD in Computer Science from Michigan State University, where research was conducted in the Pattern Recognition and Image Processing lab under Dr. Anil Jain. Prior experience includes roles as a Software Engineer I at Dematic North America, where software build automation was handled, and as a Software Developer Intern at CQL and Trademark Die and Engineering, focusing on web development and data management. Joshua holds a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Grand Valley State University and a high school diploma from Plymouth Christian High School.
