Karen Samuels, PhD

Karen Samuels, PhD, has a diverse work experience in research and academia. Currently, they serve as a Research Associate at Reach3 Insights, starting in July 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Calgary as a Qualitative Research Associate from May 2021 to May 2022. From September 2009 to August 2020, Karen worked at Memorial University of Newfoundland as an Ethnographer and Qualitative Researcher. During this time, they also served as a Teaching Assistant from September 2009 to April 2010. Before that, they held positions at the University of Calgary as a Teaching Assistant from September 2006 to April 2009, and as a Research Assistant from July 2007 to October 2007.

Karen Samuels, PhD has an extensive education history in the field of Social and Cultural Anthropology. Karen obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1992 to 1997. Later, they pursued further education and completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Calgary from 2004 to 2006. Karen continued their studies at the same university and earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from 2006 to 2009. Lastly, they achieved their highest level of education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Memorial University of Newfoundland from 2009 to 2020.

In addition to their academic achievements, Karen has also obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. These include "UX Deep Dive: Usability Testing" from LinkedIn in March 2021, "NVivo 2018 Essential Training" from LinkedIn in October 2020, "UX Foundations: Usability Testing" from LinkedIn in October 2020, and "UX Foundations: Research" from LinkedIn in September 2020.
