Leslie Hughes has a long and varied work history. Leslie began their career in 2011 as a School Program Manager for AHEC. In 2012, they moved to Womankind, Inc. as Grants Administrator/Program Coordinator. In 2014, they took on the role of Director of Career Services for Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth and Regional Recovery Manager for the American Red Cross. In 2015, they became a Grant Writer for United Way of Tarrant County. In 2016, they took on the role of Grant Reviewer for HHS. In 2017, they began working as a Consultant for Ardent Spirit. In 2019, they became an Instructor for Western Colorado University and Director of Development and Grants Program Manager for Robotics Education & Competition Foundation.

Leslie Hughes received a BS in Molecular Biology from Sam Houston State University between 1994 and 1998. Leslie then earned an MS in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Hodges University between 2010 and 2012. In 2015, they earned a Certificate in Grantwriting from The University of Texas at Arlington. In 2017 and 2018, they attended Landmark for personal awareness and self-improvement. Finally, in 2019, they earned a Nanodegree in Programming for Data Science from Udacity.
