Karpagam Srinivasan has extensive work experience in the field of genomics and neurobiology. Karpagam currently holds the position of Director, Genomics and Quantitative Biology at ReCode Therapeutics since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Alector from 2018 to 2023, where they held various roles including Associate Director and Staff Scientist, Staff Scientist in Target Discovery and Genomics, and Senior Scientist in Target Discovery and Genomics. From 2011 to 2018, Karpagam worked at Genentech as a Senior Scientific Researcher, focusing on research related to Neuroinflammation in Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. Karpagam also had a rotation with US Medical Affairs (USMA) during their time at Genentech. Before joining Genentech, from 2008 to 2011, they were a Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford, where they made significant discoveries related to genetic and molecular mechanisms that regulate projection fate in newly born cortical neurons. Prior to this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University from 2004 to 2008, where they focused on the role of apical protein complex in mammalian neocorticogenesis.
Karpagam Srinivasan completed their education with a Ph.D. and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2000 to 2004. Their field of study during this time was Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, specifically focusing on Mammary Gland Biology. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A) in Biological Sciences (Neuroscience) from The University of Texas at Austin from 1997 to 2000. Karpagam Srinivasan's educational journey began at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, where they earned a Master of Science (M.S) in Biological Sciences (Neuroscience) from 1993 to 1997.
