Sylvia Kunakom

Sylvia Kunakom, PhD, is a Senior Scientist at Recombia Biosciences since August 2023, with prior experience in the same role at DoubleRainbow Biosciences from November 2022 to July 2023. Previously, Sylvia served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Secondary Metabolites Group at the Joint Genome Institute of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory between November 2020 and October 2022. Sylvia completed a Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy at the University of Illinois Chicago from 2015 to 2020, where also served as a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy. Additional academic experience includes a Graduate Research Assistant position at Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and various internships and research roles, including at Eli Lilly and Company, Macalester College, and the University of Michigan. Educational qualifications include multiple degrees in Chemistry and Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
