Director Advanced Cybercrime Engagements ACE Team at Recorded Future

Jared Der-Yeghiayan has a diverse work experience that spans over several industries and roles. Jared started their career as a Corporate Trainer and Supervisor at Sony, where they were responsible for managing new building locations and ensuring corporate policies were implemented. Jared then transitioned to a managerial position at Regal, where they held various positions and oversaw day-to-day operations, budget planning, HR, sales, and customer relations.

In 2003, Jared joined the U.S. Customs and Border Protection as an Officer and later became a CBP Intelligence Officer. Jared served as part of the Counter Terrorism Response Team and utilized their skills in intelligence to combat terrorism activities. After that, they moved to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and became a Criminal Investigator and Special Agent. Jared also served as a Liaison to the DHS Office of Cyber, Infrastructure, and Resilience Policy and the U.S. Liaison to Europol in the Netherlands. During their time at Europol, they played a crucial role in shutting down multiple darknet criminal websites.

Jared's expertise in cybercrimes led him to work at Berkeley Research Group LLC as a Director of Cyber Operations & Incident Response. Jared then joined Amazon as one of the founding members of the Counterfeit Crimes Unit (CCU) and served as a Senior Investigations Manager. Jared played a key role in establishing investigative procedures and tools to combat counterfeit crimes.

In 2021, Jared was reinstated as a Special Agent at the DHS and became the Cyber Program Lead for Global Trade Investigations. In this role, they led complex criminal investigations, focusing on cyber threats related to intellectual property, commercial fraud, and counter proliferation. Jared also contributed to enhancing HSI's ability to combat various cybercrimes, including ransomware, network intrusions, and cryptocurrency/financial crimes.

Currently, Jared is working as the Director of the Advanced Cybercrime & Engagements (ACE) Team at Recorded Future. In this role, they direct and oversees operations related to sensitive collections, cybercrime intelligence, and threat actor engagements. The ACE team is responsible for sourcing new websites and threat intelligence related to criminal organizations and threat actors.

In addition to their professional experience, Jared is also the Founder and Owner of Uncastled LLC. With over 17 years of experience, they have successfully resolved complex cybercrime investigations involving anonymization, cryptocurrency, dark web, and advanced online undercover techniques. Jared has led and orchestrated high-profile investigations, including the shutdown of Silk Road and Silk Road 2.

Jared Der-Yeghiayan's education history begins with their Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections from the College of Lake County. Jared then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Forensics from Franklin University, which they completed in 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Jared has also obtained several certifications. These include the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) from the SANS Institute, which they obtained in February 2018. Jared has also completed various training programs, such as the HSI Special Agent Training Certified from the FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER in February 2011 and the Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) Certified, also from the FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER, in November 2010.

Jared has acquired several other certifications related to their field, including being a Distinguished Expert from the FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER in November 2010. Jared is also certified in Counter Terrorism Response (CTR) Team by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Field Operator Intelligence Training (FOIT) by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Cell Phone and Computer Triage by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Detecting Deception and Eliciting Response by the FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER, and the Immigration Officer Basic Training Course (IOBTC) by the FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER.

Furthermore, Jared has pursued specialized training in web app penetration testing and ethical hacking through the SANS Technology Institute's SANS 542 program in 2018.
