Rita George

Chief Operating Officer, GRAMMY Museum at The Recording Academy

Rita George is Chief Operating Officer for the GRAMMY Museum®. In her role, George oversees day-to-day business and operations for the Museum and its 45 staff members in Los Angeles and leads new business development efforts, as well as, helps oversee the Mississippi and New Jersey locations. Additionally, George helps manage the Museum's budgets and finances and provides direct support to the Museum's Board of Directors.

During her tenure, George has managed the strategic planning and curatorial content development for more than 80 exhibits and off-site projects, including the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Okla., in 2012, the opening of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi in Cleveland, Miss., in 2016, the GRAMMY Museum Gallery at Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tenn., in 2016, the Ray Charles Memorial Library in Los Angeles, Calif., in 2017, and, most recently, the GRAMMY Museum Experience Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, in 2017.

Prior to joining the GRAMMY Museum, George served for 12 years as director of visitor services, security, and operations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

George graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
