Erin Carnish

Venture Architect at Redesign Health

Erin Carnish has 20+ years of experience building and scaling healthcare companies. Most recently, as Managing Director & COO of UnitedHealth Group Ventures (UHGV), Erin founded new platform businesses for the largest US payor. In her role, Erin successfully deployed over $450M across seven new ventures that, at her departure, had achieved three successful exits and an IRR of 25%. Among other things, these businesses focused on diabetes prevention, managing anxiety/depression, reducing the burden of out-of-network bills, better serving the dual-eligible population, and addressing chronic pain. Her responsibilities included business ideation, management, recruitment, launch, board management, and operating partner functions, in addition to managing a shared services organization (including finance, human capital, and marketing). Before UHGV, Erin served as Senior Vice President at Optum Care Solutions. There, she developed new business models that fueled the organization's rapid growth from $400M to $1.3B of revenue over three years. Erin began her career as a consultant at Andersen, working primarily within manufacturing, distribution, and service-related industries. She has consistently served on non-profit boards and has channeled significant energy into mentoring early stage C-Suite leadership and elevating women leaders. Erin holds a B.S. in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
