David Shaw has a diverse work experience, starting in 2008 as an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer at Sinclair Knight Merz. David then worked as a Mill Engineer at New Britain Palm Oil Ltd for a brief period. In 2010, they joined BHP Billiton - Mitsubishi Alliance as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, transitioning to a role as a Mechanical Engineer (Projects) at BHP Billiton in 2011.
In 2016, David co-founded and served as the CEO of GenesisAR, a tech startup focused on mobile AR gaming. David Shaw has a diverse education history in engineering. From 2005 to 2009, they attended The University of Queensland and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering - Honours IIB in Mechanical Engineering. In 2014, they pursued further education at the University of South Australia where they earned a Masters degree in Engineering. Additionally, David participated in the Space Design Competitions Australia, focusing on Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, during unknown years. David also had an overseas exchange program experience in 2007 at DTU - Technical University of Denmark, studying Mechanical + Materials Engineering. Prior to their tertiary education, David completed their high school studies at St Laurence's College, obtaining a High School Certificate with an OP2. Besides their educational background, David Shaw obtained a Professional Engineer certification from Engineers Australia in August 2014.
