Rio Kuteira's work experience begins in 2008 at College of the Redwoods, where they worked as a Mathematics Associate Faculty member. They taught various math courses, participated in curriculum development, and utilized technology in their teaching methods. In 2011, Rio joined Solar Census as a Mathematician and Geospatial Engineer. They analyzed aerial data and developed algorithms for an online shade tool. Rio also managed a team and coordinated deliveries with governments and other departments. In 2014, Rio took on a Programmer role at Solar Census, where they designed and developed a geospatial SAS product for solar installers. They managed large amounts of data and ensured its timely delivery to customers. In 2015, Rio transitioned to Redwood Credit Union as a Programmer, working with a team to enhance the functionality of online platforms for members. They communicated with business partners, integrated third-party vendors, and coded in different languages.

Rio Kuteira pursued higher education, beginning with a Bachelor's degree in Physics at Willamette University, which they completed between 2001 and 2005. Subsequently, from 2005 to 2010, they attended Humboldt State University, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Environmental Science with a specialization in Mathematical Modeling.
