About the Role

Regional Property Services Inc (RPSI), a division of the Regional Group of Companies, is currently looking for an experienced Building Operator for facilities in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. In this role, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and operation of base building systems, including plumbing, mechanical, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and life safety systems.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring the smooth operation of these systems through regular maintenance and promptly addressing any issues. You will also oversee building operations, perform necessary repairs, and maintain high standards of system functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute operations and maintenance programs to ensure smooth tenant operations and asset maintenance.
  • Ensure all life safety systems are operational and compliant with health and safety guidelines.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, documenting and addressing deficiencies.
  • Respond to service requests promptly, ensuring work quality meets standards.
  • Monitor contractor work for compliance with the scope of work and standards.
  • Maintain elevator systems, including cleaning tracks, ensuring functionality, and verifying licenses.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and perform general exterior maintenance such as repairs, sweeping, shoveling, and painting.
  • Organize and maintain storage areas, and electrical, mechanical, and telecom rooms.
  • Provide positive representation of RPSI, enhancing tenant experiences and maintaining relationships.
  • Obtain quotes for work, present them to the Property Manager for approval, and participate in on-call rotation duties as needed.

About you

  • 3+ years of experience as a Building Technician/Operator, with experience in commercial buildings being a significant asset.

  • Strong communication skills and maintain a positive attitude toward tenants and colleagues.

  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and self-motivation.

  • Possess a solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

  • Manage computerized systems and water treatment plans, with basic knowledge of building automation systems being a plus.

  • Hold a valid driver’s license, have a reliable vehicle, and possess basic computer skills. Bilingualism is an asset.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Capable of obtaining Government Security Clearance.
