Dan Ngo has a diverse work experience spanning over 18 years. Dan began their career as a Computer Consultant at Rutgers Campus Computing Facilities, where they provided technical support to students. Dan then joined the US Army, serving in various roles including Communications Officer and Information Security and Assurance Manager. During their time in the army, they gained experience in managing communications systems and developing information security programs.
After leaving the army, Dan worked as the Director of Information Technology for the Washington National Guard, leading a defensive cyber operations team. Dan also served as an Information Security Engineer at Nordstrom, where they developed and implemented security tools and collaborated with application development teams to enhance security.
Dan's most recent role was at REI, where they progressed from a Security Engineer to a Senior and Lead Security Engineer. Dan worked on integrating security best practices into the company's DevOps practice and collaborated with various teams to ensure a secure customer experience on the REI website.
Throughout their career, Dan has demonstrated strong expertise in information security, incident response, and managing complex technical systems. Dan has a proven track record of implementing security solutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance security measures. Dan's work experience showcases their proficiency in ensuring the security of systems and protecting customer data.
Dan Ngo obtained a Master's Degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from the University of Maryland Global Campus from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a BA in Economics from Rutgers University between 2001 and 2005.
In addition to their formal education, Dan also holds several certifications. Dan acquired the GIAC Cloud Security Automation Certification (GCSA) from GIAC Certifications in June 2022. In October 2018, they obtained the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification from (ISC)². Other certifications include CompTIA Cloud+ ce (September 2017), GIAC Continuous Monitoring Certification (GMON, December 2016), CompTIA CySA+ ce (August 2016), Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security, June 2014), Certified Ethical Hacker from EC-Council (January 2014), GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN, July 2013), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH, December 2012), GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA, October 2012), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² (August 2012), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (June 2012), Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA Routing and Switching, December 2011), CompTIA A+ ce (July 2013), and CompTIA Security+ ce (July 2013).
