Goran Tomić

Senior Scientist at Relation Therapeutics

Goran Tomić has a diverse work experience in the field of research and academia. Goran started their career as a BSc student at the University of Belgrade, where they conducted an analysis of anti-proliferative and immunomodulatory activities of selected herbal extracts. Goran then moved on to work as a research intern at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

After completing their BSc degree, Goran joined the Petnica Science Center as a Junior Associate. In this role, they were involved in organizing molecular biomedicine program courses and delivered lectures on chemistry to high school students. Goran also designed and ran laboratory practicals.

Goran continued their studies at the University of Belgrade, where they completed their MSc degree. Their research focused on analyzing the type and frequency of epidermal growth factor receptor mutations in lung cancer patient samples using basic molecular biology techniques and statistical analyses.

Goran then joined Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as a PhD student and later as a research associate. During this time, they worked on various research projects related to cancer. Goran also had an opportunity to visit the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory as a visiting scientist, further enhancing their research skills.

In 2019, Goran was selected as a Fulbright Scholar, which provided him with a fully-funded research visit to the United States. This opportunity allowed him to expand their research horizons and collaborate with international experts.

Goran's most recent role was as a postdoctoral researcher at The Francis Crick Institute, where they further advanced their research career. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Scientist at Relation Therapeutics, where they continue to contribute their expertise in the field.

Goran Tomić obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Belgrade, starting in 2007 and completing in 2011. Goran further expanded their education at the University of Cambridge, from 2012 to 2016, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Oncology.
