After completing their undergraduate studies in 1996, Derek enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. Derek successfully completed this program in 1998. Later, in 2000, Derek decided to further enhance their knowledge and enrolled at Kennesaw State University to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Derek completed their MBA in 2002, specializing in the field of Business. In 2019, Derek enrolled in the Stagen Leadership Academy's Integral Leadership Program (ILP), where they studied leadership strategies and skills. Although no specific degree was mentioned for this program, Derek actively participated in the ILP until 2020.
