Marcus Sanatan

Marcus Sanatan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Marcus began their career as an intern at iGovTT, where they conducted research and presented on cloud computing topics and DNSSEC. Marcus then interned at Legalesign, where they conducted market research for their electronic signature platform. Marcus also worked as an intern at Skyscanner, maintaining web scrapers in Python.

After their internships, Marcus joined the Ministry of Science and Technology as a National ICT Unit Project Officer, where they reviewed technology-related Cabinet Notes and aligned initiatives across ministries. Marcus then joined Digicel Group as a VANS Engineer, where they performed operational tasks and fixes for Linux VMs and legacy Unix servers.

Following their time at Digicel, Marcus worked at Primer as a Phaser Curriculum Developer, creating games and guides to teach children core mechanics. Marcus then joined Wepala, first as a Junior Web Developer, where they worked on the creation of smart contracts for a fantasy football game, and later as a Server Side Developer, developing and maintaining RESTful microservices.

Marcus also worked at Jobsity as a Full Stack Developer, where they collaborated with Avenue8 on software development projects. Marcus then joined StackAbuse, initially as a Writer before being promoted to Editor, blogging about software development topics.

Most recently, Marcus worked at REMIO as a Full Stack Developer, a Lead Full Stack Developer, and currently as a Staff Engineer. In these roles, they worked on various projects, including streaming live video content into virtual reality, implementing CI/CD for application deployment, integrating CloudWatch logs with Datadog, and modularizing backend systems.

Marcus Sanatan earned a BSc (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they pursued a BSc in Computer Science at South Carolina State University from 2009 to 2010.
