Vilasini Prabhu

Vilasini Prabhu has a strong background in engineering and product development, with over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry. Vilasini currently holds the position of Vice President Engineering, EE Systems at Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, where they are responsible for driving upstream and current program development and implementing new technologies. In this role, they oversee a team of 500+ engineers and is responsible for the design and validation of various vehicle electrical and electronic systems.

Prior to their current role, Vilasini served as the Head of Powertrain Electricals & Electronics at Tata Motors, where they led the design and development of powertrain systems for passenger cars. Vilasini was responsible for the execution of strategic and tactical actions for new product introductions and worked closely with Auto Tier-1 companies on software and calibration.

Vilasini also has experience at Pricol Limited as the General Manager of Product Development Electronics, where they were responsible for the design and development of driver information systems and sensors. Vilasini led the engineering design of instrument clusters and sensors for major automotive OEMs, focusing on VAVE targets, product cost, and quality.

Earlier in their career, Vilasini worked at GM, where they held various leadership positions in powertrain controls engineering. Vilasini was responsible for the complete program handling of powertrain controllers, including engine management systems, transmission controls, and hybrid controls for the Indian market. Vilasini also established a regional powertrain controls engineering division for GMNA and GME, focusing on software development, validation, and model-based algorithms.

Vilasini began their career at Robert Bosch India Limited, where they received training in automotive software development and held key technical and managerial roles supporting Bosch's automotive controls worldwide.

Prior to joining the automotive industry, Vilasini worked at Building Network Automation Pvt. Ltd as a Senior Design Engineer, where they were responsible for converting new ideas to prototype evaluation and the creation of new products.

Vilasini Prabhu completed their B.E in Electronics and Communications from Gulbarga University, between 1984 and 1989. Vilasini later pursued the Executive General Management program (EGMP) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore from 2007 to 2008.
