Jason Carne

Jason is regarded as a leading expert in the global reinsurance space. He has a wealth of experience in insurance linked securities, as well as the traditional property and casualty (P&C) and life reinsurance markets, having worked for close to 30 years with large public companies, highly technical, non-public ventures, and start-ups.

Jason’s career has included being a managing director of KPMG in Bermuda, and a partner and chief financial officer of Hudson Structured Capital Management, a SEC registered investment advisor.

Having retired as its CFO, Jason is now a member of Hudson’s board of advisors, focusing on reinsurance and transport strategies.

Additionally, Jason currently serves as an independent non-executive director to several Bermuda reinsurance companies operating in the life and/or P&C industries. He chairs the audit and/or risk committees for most of these entities.

During his 25 years at KPMG, Jason gained significant advisory experience, assisting boards and decision makers on best practices in corporate governance, M&A, regulatory and other strategic matters. He founded, built and led KPMG’s insurance linked securities practice and served as lead or concurring audit partner on a number of SEC and UK-listed reinsurers as well as several large private reinsurers from the P&C and life reinsurance sectors.

In 2019/20, Jason acted as an expert witness in a dispute between two ILS reinsurers.

Early in his career, Jason worked for BDO Binder Hamlyn in London where he obtained his designation as a chartered accountant.

Jason graduated from Southampton University with a bachelor of science, majoring in economics and politics. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda. Jason also qualified as an associate in Reinsurance through The Institutes program in 1998.
