Refugio Mata

Refugio Mata is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in communications, program management, and advocacy, particularly within the realms of equity, climate change, and renewable energy. Currently serving as Managing Director and Senior Program Director at Resource Media since June 2016, Refugio leads initiatives focused on low carbon fuels and energy efficiency. Prior roles include Program Director at SEIU-USWW, where responsibilities encompassed communications for California, and Campaign Manager at Presente.org, managing national campaigns centered on environmental justice and immigrant rights. Refugio also contributed as Southwest Deputy Press Secretary at Sierra Club, developing bilingual communications strategies, and began a career in community coordination and outreach in various organizations, including Heal the Bay and AFL CIO. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from California State University, Northridge, and certificate courses in Marketing from UCLA.
