Sirajul Salekin, PhD

Sirajul Salekin, PhD has a range of work experience in various roles and industries. Sirajul started their career as a BSS Engineer at Huawei in 2008 before moving on to work as a Specialist in Radio Network Planning at Robi Axiata Limited from 2009 to 2012.

In 2013, Sirajul began working at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where they held multiple positions. As a Research Assistant in the Brain-Computer Interface Lab from 2013 to 2018, they trained Adversarially Learned Inference (ALI) models and utilized their features for image recognition tasks. Sirajul also developed parallel code for kernel density estimation and worked on other projects. As a Research Assistant in the Computational Genomics Lab from 2014 to 2018, Sirajul focused on the application of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for feature extraction from human genomes and analyzing large datasets to uncover patterns. Sirajul also worked as a Teaching Assistant in the ECE Department from 2013 to 2014.

In 2018, Sirajul joined ReTech Labs, Inc as a Machine Learning Scientist. In this role, they designed a deep learning framework for product recognition in retail store shelf images and implemented an object detection algorithm for automating retail store operations. Sirajul also trained deep learning models using cloud technologies and implemented experimental systems based on academic papers.

Sirajul Salekin, PhD, completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in the years 2003 to 2007. Following this, they pursued their higher education at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2012 to 2017.
