Ariadne Whitby, PhD

Head of AI Development at RetInSight

Ariadne Whitby, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and AI development. Ariadne is currently serving as the Head of AI Development at RetInSight since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Alto Neuroscience as a Data Scientist from June 2020 to June 2021.

From 2017 to 2020, Ariadne joined Philips and participated in a technical leadership rotational program. Ariadne worked as a Data Scientist in various departments, such as Digital Pathology and Philips Neuro. In Digital Pathology, they utilized image processing and deep learning techniques to identify regions of interest in digitized pathology images. Within Philips Neuro, Ariadne developed algorithms for seizure detection in epilepsy using signal processing and deep learning methods.

Before joining Philips, Ariadne worked briefly as a Data Scientist at RETVAS LIMITED, an early-stage start-up, from April 2017 to August 2017. Ariadne also gained valuable experience as a Data Science Fellow at Faculty, where they underwent an 8-week training fellowship focused on machine learning, data engineering, and project management. During this fellowship, Ariadne collaborated with a media start-up on a data science project.

Ariadne began their career as a PhD student at Imperial College London in 2012. Their interdisciplinary research involved computational/bioengineering and cell-biology, with a focus on wound healing. Ariadne utilized in vitro and in silico methods, along with designing data pipelines and image processing tools for automated analyses using MATLAB and Python. Ariadne completed their PhD in December 2016.

Ariadne Whitby, PhD, completed their education at Imperial College London. Ariadne earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from 2007 to 2011. Ariadne then pursued a Master's Degree in Bioengineering and Neurotechnology from 2011 to 2012. Ariadne continued their studies at Imperial College London and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biophysics, Computational Biology, and Computational Modeling from 2012 to 2016.
