Jack Ratner

Jack Ratner is a senior software engineer at Revel. Jack was previously the head of engineering at Hank, where they were responsible for creating and managing the entire software stack, growing and mentoring the engineering team and collaborating closely with the rest of the business to provide accessible services for seniors.

At Hank, Jack designed and built custom software that enabled hundreds of end-users to order rides, meals, and other services while also enabling Hank's internal operations team to manage complex fulfillment flows. Jack also built and managed integrations with several tools (Uber, Twilio, Klaviyo, SendGrid, Zendesk) to automate aspects of order fulfillment and create a multi-modal customer experience.

In addition, Jack facilitated data-backed business insights by building out a data warehouse in BigQuery, adding a self-hosted Metabase deployment, and writing complex SQL views to facilitate ease of discovery of key business metrics. Jack also established a variety of systems for developer productivity including CI/CD, a frontend component library, generic pagination and filtering systems for GraphQL, and automated testing suites.

Finally, Jack deployed a self-hosted CMS (strapi) and exposed its data through a generic GraphQL HTTP proxy resolver to enable members of the product, design and marketing teams to expose resources on Hank's central GraphQL API. Jack also designed and ran a SWE hiring process to successfully source, interview, close, and onboard software engineers.
