Paul August obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Saint Anselm College, where they studied from 1984 to 1988. Paul then pursued a Master of Science degree in Genetics at the University of Connecticut, attending from 1988 to 1989. Paul further continued their education at the University of Minnesota, where they completed their Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology with a focus on Mitomycin C Resistance and Biosynthesis from 1990 to 1995. Finally, they undertook a Post-Doctoral program at the University of Washington, specializing in Organic Chemistry & Molecular Genetics, which spanned from 1995 to 1996.
