Steve Brown

Steve Brown, Ph.D., currently serves as Chief Scientific Officer at Lite-1 since August 2025. Prior to this role, Steve held positions at LanzaTech from September 2017 to August 2025, including Distinguished Scientist and Director of New Strain Development. Steve's academic experience spans from 2009 to May 2019 at the University of Tennessee, where roles included Adjunct Associate Professor in Genome Sciences and Technology, Associate Professor at the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology. Additionally, Steve worked as a Senior Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 2008 to September 2017 and held various earlier positions at the same institution from 2002 to 2007. Steve earned a Ph.D. and Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from the University of Otago.
