Dermot O'Grady has extensive work experience in various roles within the tobacco industry. Dermot joined Reynolds American Inc. in 2021 as the Vice President of Business Planning & Performance. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Director of Revenue Growth Management and Retail Programs at Reynolds American Inc. from 2021 to 2023. Before joining Reynolds American Inc., Dermot worked at BAT. Dermot was the Head of Strategy, Planning & Insights for the Middle East & South Asia region from 2019 to 2021. Dermot also held several other roles at BAT, including Regional Insights BP, Head of Research and Insights for Australia, Marketing Planning and Information Manager for the Western Europe Region, and Marketing Planning and Information Executive for the Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. Prior to BAT, Dermot worked at British American Tobacco as a Trade Insights Executive and Marketing Insights Executive for the Southern Africa Area.
Dermot O'Grady completed their BA Hons degree in English and Politics at Rhodes University from 1999 to 2003. Following this, they pursued a Masters in Commerce specializing in Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Econometrics, and International Finance at the University of Cape Town from 2004 to 2006.
