Travis Smithard

Travis Smithard is an experienced geoscientist and executive in the oil and gas industry, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Director at Rhino Resources Ltd since January 2016. Smithard manages a diverse portfolio of 14 blocks across five Sub-Saharan African countries, focusing on onshore, shallow, and ultra-deep-water environments, and is responsible for data acquisition and interpretation to attract potential farm-in partners. Prior to this role, Smithard completed a MSc contract with Total from January 2014 to December 2015, studying the tectonostratigraphic evolution of the Southern Outeniqua Basin. Smithard holds an MSc in Geology/Geophysics, a BSc (Honours) in Petroleum Geology and Geophysics, and a BSc in Geology, Oceanography, and Atmospheric Science, all acquired from the University of Cape Town, alongside an academic foundation established at Rondebosch Boy's High School.
