David J. Dougherty Jr. has extensive work experience in sales engineering and management roles in the telecommunications industry. David J. began their career at Nortel Networks in 1996, where they worked in software development and sales engineering for inter-exchange carriers. David J. continued working at Nortel Networks until 2001, focusing on TDM switching solutions and next-generation succession solutions.

David J. remained at Sonus until 2017 when they joined Ribbon Communications as a Sales Engineer.
