Lead Product Designer – Consumer  

Location: Hybrid (2 days in the London office) 

Reports to: Head of Design

The role 

We’re seeking a Lead Product Designer to join our Experience Design (XD) team, to create exceptional end-to-end, connected experiences that exceed user needs, drive business growth and make home moving easier and simpler. 

  • Oversee design quality and outcomes in our core consumer search space.

  • Collaborate across teams and lead initiatives with a user-centered approach.

  • Design seamless, relevant, inclusive and consistent experiences for the now, next and future.

  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of Product Designers.

  • Report to and work closely with the Head of Experience Design.

  • Based in our Soho office 2 days a week and 3 days from home.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Partner with the Head of Product, contribute to strategic decisions, aligned to business objectives and key results (OKRs), framing user and business problems with clear success metrics.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the space, innovating next-generation products and services based on user behaviors, pain points and goals.

  • Collaborate closely with User Research to conduct generative research for discovery, leverage insights and data to inform decisions and long-term planning.

  • Engage with Service Design to extend and connect user journeys to back-stage processes, contributing to research and journey repositories, identifying opportunities to enhance experiences.

  • Provide a holistic view of the domain with insights and data, through sketching ideas, flows, and crafting high-fidelity designs and prototypes of the services, products and systems.

  • Raise product design standards and adoption of the design system, promoting reuse and consistency with Brand and code.

  • Champion inclusive and accessible digital experiences, collaborating with Engineering to uphold accessibility standards.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Showcase a diverse portfolio demonstrating design thinking across B2C contexts.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills in recruiting, onboarding and developing talented Product Designers, providing clear direction, support and continuous feedback.

  • Communicate effectively with leadership, stakeholders and peers, building trust and nurturing strong relationships.

  • Display a passion for continuous learning and development, with a proactive approach to enhance ways of working and collaboration, contributing to design operations for XD.

  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, balancing business objectives with user needs.

  • Advocate for XD within Rightmove and participate in external industry events, staying up to date with trends and best practices.
