Stephen Duguay

Vice President/Head of Analytical Development at Ring Therapeutics

Stephen Duguay has an extensive work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Stephen is currently serving as the Vice President/Head of Analytical Development at Ring Therapeutics since May 2023. Previously, they held the role of Head of Analytical Development and Vice President of Analytical Sciences at 2seventy bio from November 2021 to June 2023. Before that, Stephen worked at bluebird bio as the Head of Analytical Development from September 2019 to November 2021. Stephen also served as the Senior Director of CMC Strategy and the Director of Cellular Process Development and Analytics at bluebird bio.

Stephen started their career at the University of Chicago, where they studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, focusing on post-translational processing of precursor peptides in the constitutive and regulated secretory pathway. Stephen continued this research as a Research Fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Later, they joined Transkaryotic Therapies as a Scientist, leading a gene therapy project to treat diabetes.

Stephen's experience also includes working as a Curator at Proteome Inc and as a Senior Manager at Incyte Genomics, where they managed a team of scientists involved in building bioinformatics tools. Prior to that, they held a significant role at Genzyme, a sanofi company, as an Associate Director of Process Development. In this position, they built an organization that successfully completed process and assay development, comparability studies, and validation activities to support clinical trials and obtained regulatory approval in Europe for the first combined cell therapy/tissue-engineered product.

Stephen's diverse background and leadership roles demonstrate their expertise in analytical development, CMC strategy, and process development in the biotech industry.

Stephen Duguay completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of Vermont from 1982 to 1986. Stephen then pursued a Ph.D. at the University of Washington, from 1988 to 1993, although the specific field of study for their doctoral degree was not provided.
