James Gilman currently serves as the Director of Public Safety at Ringling College of Art and Design since July 2021. Prior to this role, James held the position of Chief of Police at the University of New Haven from April 2019 to June 2021 and served as Director of Campus Safety at Mitchell College from November 2016 to April 2019. Additionally, James worked as an Explosive Detection Canine Instructor at MSA Security for a brief period in 2016 and spent over two decades with the Connecticut State Police, concluding as a Master Sergeant. James holds a Master's degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Homeland Security from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire/Arson Investigation and Prevention from the University of New Haven.
