Nigel Steward is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the mining and metals industry, currently serving as Chief Scientist and Head of Group Technical at Rio Tinto since June 2016, where responsibilities include processing, asset management, energy, climate change, and R&D strategy. Previously, Nigel held various leadership roles at Rio Tinto and Alcan, including Managing Director for Copper & Diamonds Operations and Vice President of Technology and Supply Chain. Nigel's academic background includes a PhD in Ceramic Science from Imperial College London, an MBA from Queen's University, and a BSc in Metallurgy & Materials Science from Imperial College London.
