Sean Carney

Sean Carney is a highly experienced insurance professional currently serving as the Chief Underwriting Officer at Ripe Thinking Limited since September 2025. Prior to this role, Carney held significant positions at Simply Business from February 2021 to September 2025, including Managing Director and Underwriting Director. Carney's earlier experience at Hiscox spanned from September 2011 to December 2020, where leadership roles included Head of Operations for Hiscox UK Direct and Partnerships, Portfolio Underwriting Manager, and Development Underwriter for both Professions and Specialty Commercial as well as Art and Private Clients. Carney holds a BA Honours in Economics from the University of Liverpool, graduated in 2010 with First Class honors.
