Paul Burgess has a long and varied career in the risk management and technology sectors. Paul began their career in 1999 as the IT Manager for Cancer Services at Charing Cross Hospital. In 2000, they joined RMS as Regional Vice President for Asia and Australasia. In 2005, they transitioned to sales and relationship management, working with clients in the Lloyd's, London and UK Primaries markets. Paul was also instrumental in the development of the London Market Data Community. In 2017, they were appointed RMS representative to the Governing Board of the NatCatDax project at Nanyang Technological University. In 2019, they accepted roles as Senior Advisor for Risk Management at the Cambridge Centre for Risk Studies, Member at Camelot RT, Independent Consultant at Angel Abney Limited, and Helping companies adopt technology - human expert partnerships at Insurdata. Most recently, they accepted the role of Head of Business Development, Europe at Risilience, a deep-tech start up providing analytics that help companies navigate uncertainty and better manage risk.

Paul Burgess received their BSc in Geology from the University of Bristol in 1991. Paul then went on to complete an MSc in Environmental Engineering - Water Quality Management at Imperial College London in 1993. Paul then pursued a PhD in Climate Modelling at the Climatic Research Unit, UEA, which they completed in 1999. Paul also obtained certifications from Hult Ashridge, RMS CCRA Program, Miller Heiman and Others, and Cambridge Judge Business School. In 2021, they obtained a certification in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from Cambridge Judge Business School. Paul also completed courses from Columbia Business School in Leading Strategic Growth, which they are still currently enrolled in.
