Karen Block

Karen Block has had extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Karen began their career in 1978 as an Assistant to the Director of Medical Records at HSHS St. Mary's Hospital - Decatur. In 1979, they moved to Silver Cross Hospital, where they worked as the Director of Health Information Management until 1993. Karen then joined Riverside Healthcare in 1994, where they currently hold the position of Director of Health Information Management and Chief Privacy Officer. Additionally, they served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Joliet Junior College from 1981 to 2005.

Karen Block has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of St. Francis, completed in 1999. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (MS) in Health Services Administration from the same university in 1990. In 1978, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Information/Medical Records Administration/Administrator from the University of Illinois Chicago. Before that, in 1977, they acquired another Bachelor of Science (BS) in Honors Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
