Gail Spilsbury

Gail Spilsbury is an accomplished editor and educator with extensive experience in publishing and the arts. Currently serving as Affiliated Faculty at Emerson College since September 2022, Gail has also been a Freelance Editor for Rizzoli International Publications since May 2015 and a film reviewer for the Boston City Paper since January 2017. Gail founded Bergamot Books in 2003, specializing in art historical publications and expanding to include print-on-demand and e-books. Previous roles include Editor at the Peabody Essex Museum, Manager of Editorial Projects at the National Geographic Society, and Managing Editor at the National Gallery of Art. Gail's editorial expertise was further honed during tenure as Senior Editor at the Smithsonian Institution. Academic qualifications include a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Berkeley, and education from the Cambridge School of Weston.
