Daan Kegel

Daan Kegel has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies.

Daan is currently working at Robeco as a Senior Cyber Security Specialist, starting in October 2021.

Prior to this, they worked at SWIFT as a Senior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst from February 2019 to September 2021. In this role, they were involved in threat hunting, incident response and investigation, analysis of technical reports, and research on online entities. Daan also collaborated closely with internal stakeholders and teams and solicited feedback on threat intelligence effectiveness.

Daan has also been a Founding Partner at Void IT, a Dutch IT company, from April 2016 to March 2020. Daan co-founded the company with Thomas van Bouwhorst and utilized their knowledge and experience to automate processes and find innovative solutions to problems.

Before that, Daan held multiple roles at DearBytes B.V. Daan served as a Threat Hunting Coordinator/Medior Security Analyst from August 2018 to February 2019, a Medior Security Analyst from March 2018 to February 2019, a Junior Security Analyst from July 2017 to March 2018, and a Trainee Security Services from March 2017 to July 2017.

Their earlier work experience includes working as a Technical Service/Sales Adviser at MyCom from March 2012 to March 2017, a Sales Adviser at Dynabyte from September 2009 to March 2012, a Callcenter Agent at Patch Marketing B.V. from 2008 to 2009, and an Assistant at H.K. van Wingerden & Zonen B.V. in 2007.

Throughout their career, Daan has gained extensive knowledge and skills in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, IT solutions, and customer service.

Daan Kegel's education history begins in 2002 when they attended S.G. Spieringshoek in Schiedam, where they pursued a VWO degree in N&G + Informatica until 2004. Daan then transferred to Lek en Linge Culemborg, where they continued their studies in N&G + Informatica until 2009 and obtained their VWO diploma. In 2009, Daan enrolled at R.O.C. Leiden in Leiden, where they pursued another VWO degree in N&G + Informatica until 2010.

Daan's higher education started in 2010 at Leiden University, where they studied Psychology until 2013. To further their education in the field of informatics, Daan attended Hogeschool Leiden from 2013 to 2016, earning a propedeuse in Informatica.

In terms of certifications, Daan obtained several in the field of cybersecurity and cloud computing. Notable certifications include the GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI) from GIAC Certifications, which they obtained in March 2020, and the Foundations of Threat Hunting from Purple Academy in June 2023. Daan also received certifications from McAfee, CrowdStrike, and LinkedIn on various topics related to cloud security and cyber analytics, among others. Additionally, Daan achieved Apple Product Professional certifications from Apple in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
