Gerald Avancena, C.E.T. has a diverse range of work experience in the field of technology. Gerald began their career at Stereo D as an IT Desktop Administrator from August 2016 to May 2019. Gerald then moved on to SOCAN, where they worked as an IT Specialist II - Desktop and Service Delivery from May 2019 to November 2021. Gerald is currently employed at Rocket Science VFX, where they have held multiple roles since November 2021. These roles include Senior System Administrator, Systems Engineer, Chief Systems Engineer, and their current position as Head of Technology. Throughout their time at Rocket Science VFX, Gerald has implemented various technological solutions, including Dell switches, UniFi Access Technology, and the migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. Gerald has also played a crucial role in helping Rocket Science achieve TPN Blue Shield accreditation by providing guidance, implementing security best practices, and supporting them through the certification process.

Gerald Avancena, C.E.T. has a comprehensive education history in the field of technology. Gerald began their educational journey in 2002 at ACLC College, where they obtained an Associate's Degree in Computer Systems Design and Programming. Following this, they pursued further education and enrolled at George Brown College in 2015 for an Associate's Degree in Computer Systems Technician. In 2016, they completed an Advanced Diploma in Computer Systems Technology from the same institution.

Seeking more advanced knowledge and skills, Gerald decided to pursue a Bachelor of Technology degree in Software Engineering at McMaster University in 2018. Gerald is expected to complete this degree in 2023.

Apart from their formal education, Gerald has also obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2015, they achieved the CCNA Routing and Switching certification from Cisco. In the same year, they also attained the CompTIA A+ ce Certification. In 2016, they obtained the VMware Certified Associate 6 - Data Center Virtualization certification. Later, in 2018, they completed the CCNA Security Training from the Cisco Networking Academy. Their most recent certification was the Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), which they obtained in January 2022.
