Deb O'Bannon

Deb O'Bannon has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of engineering and academia. Deb currently serves as the Engineering Program Director at Rockhurst University since 2019. Prior to this, they were a Professor Emerita at UMKC School of Computing and Engineering starting from 2018. Deb had a long and successful career at UMKC as a Professor and later as an Associate Professor from 1995 to 2018. In addition to their academic roles, Deb O'Bannon also served as a Director on the Society of Women Engineers Board of Directors from 1995 to 1997. Deb started their career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1989 and worked there till 1995. Before transitioning to academia, they worked as a Principal Sanitary Engineer at the Massachusetts Dept. Environmental Quality Engineering from 1979 to 1984.

Deb O'Bannon earned a NYS Regents diploma from Carmel High School in 1975. Deb then went on to study Civil Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1975 to 1979, earning a BSCE degree. In 1982, they pursued further education in Environmental Engineering at Manhattan College and obtained an MEng degree in 1983. Deb O'Bannon completed their education by earning a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa between 1984 and 1988.
