Sergio Saraiva Pontes has a long and varied work experience. Sergio began their career in 2006 as the VP Technology & VP People & Management - Asia Pacific for Anheuser-Busch InBev. In this role, they were responsible for implementing company culture, HR tools, Target Setting and Variable pay, as well as management systems implementation and standardization across China. Sergio also led the divesture of the Korean Operation as part of the AB acquisition plan which was sold for USD 2 billion. In 2011, they became an investor at GALICIA INVESTMENTS. From 2012 to 2013, they were the CEO and Board Member of giroflex-forma, and in 2013 they became an investor and COO of Diletto. Sergio then moved to Cielo in 2017 as the Executive VP, and in 2020 they became an Advisor/Partner and CEO of Rappi. In 2021, they took on the roles of Board Member at Sequoia Soluções Logísticas, RockSpoon, and MedPass, as well as COO/Seed Investor at RockSpoon.

From 1988 to 1990, they attended Montgomery College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Systems Analysis & Design and Computer Programming. In 1993 and 1994, they attended FGV - Fundação Getulio Vargas and earned an executive MBA in Finance and Financial Management Services. In 1996 and 1997, they attended COPPEAD UFRJ and earned an executive MBA in Business Administration and Management, General. In 1997, they attended Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business and earned an Executive Education in Program for Managers Development. In 2004, they attended Insper Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa and earned an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management, General. In 2009, they attended Harvard Business School and earned an Executive Education in Building Sustainable and Competitive Strategies. In 2010, they attended Harvard Business School and earned an Executive Education in Leadership for Senior Executives. Finally, from 2015 to 2018, they attended Harvard Business School and completed the Owner/President Management (OPM 51) program.
