Molly Freed

Senior Associate at RMI

Molly supports state efforts toward economy-wide decarbonization by identifying policy gaps and implementing solutions within the building, transportation, industry, and energy sectors. Her work with policymakers and advocates helps ensure front-running states meet their climate targets in 2030 and beyond.

Prior to joining RMI’s US Program team, Molly spent five years working at the International Living Future Institute, where she oversaw the institute’s green building policy efforts and supported project teams around the world in their pursuit of deep green building performance.

She published a capstone project outlining strategies for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to meet its climate equity targets. Most recently, she joined Evergreen Action as a summer policy fellow to complete a deep dive on building decarbonization at the federal level and identifying opportunities presented by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

In addition to her role at RMI, Molly teaches the GPRO Fundamentals of Building Green course for Urban Green Council in New York City.

She holds MPA, Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and BA, Environmental Analysis from Scripps College.
