Clark Stanford, DDS, Ph.D. is a Distinguished Professor and Dean at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. He received his DDS, Prosthodontics certificate, and Ph.D., at the University of Iowa. He has authored 20 book chapters, over 120 journal publications, and more than 140 research abstracts in novel bio-inspired medical device designs, novel clinical trials designs (e.g., expertise-based randomized control trial designs for chronic pain), and the development of large research teams to address complex research questions concerning chronic pain and the genetic and phenotypic outcomes of a group of birth defects concerning the Ectodermal Dysplasias. He serves on multiple national and international committees associated with the International Association for Dental Research, American Dental Association, National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias, American College of Prosthodontists, and the Board of Directors for the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Stanford is the recipient of numerous academic awards including the 2007 State of Iowa Regents Award for Faculty Excellence, the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award, and is the first and only Dentistry faculty member to hold the prestigious UIC Distinguished Professor, the University's highest academic honor.
