Evan Aguirre

Principal Scientist, Plasma Physics at Rogue Space Systems

Evan Aguirre is currently a Principal Scientist for Plasma Physics at Rogue Space Systems. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Auburn University from May 2019 to July 2020 where they developed a laser induced fluorescence (LIF) diagnostic system for high pressure and high magnetic field dusty plasmas. Evan also used optical emission spectroscopy (OES) to understand basic plasma parameters. Additionally, they designed and built a kilohertz atmospheric pressure plasma jet and conducted experiments using OES in argon and helium plasmas. Their analysis includes spectral modeling and line ratio techniques for temperature and density.

Before their time at Auburn University, Dr. Aguirre was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Roanoke College from August 2018 to May 2019. There they taught Fluid Mechanics, Astronomy, and General Physics Lab, as well as a class for non-science majors on science methodology titled, Science, Pseudoscience and Nonsense.

Evan Aguirre has a PhD in Physics from West Virginia University and a BS in Physics from The Citadel.
