As the centralized engine for innovation and development the Roivant R&D team is responsible for: 1) discovery efforts focused on integrating computational and medicinal chemistry methods in order to establish R&D leadership positions in oncology, immunology and rare diseases; 2) working hand in hand with Business Development to establish the scientific rationale and initial development strategy for in-licensing opportunities; 3) providing tactical and strategic R&D support to stand up new portfolio companies (Vants) and advance development efforts across the portfolio.

Position Summary:

The Associate Director / Director of R&D Outsourcing and Contracts will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams through vendor/CRO identification and selection. This role focuses on sourcing, evaluating, and contracting with CROs and vendors, including analyzing service offerings and budgets, identifying and escalating ongoing risks and ensuring operational deliverables are documented.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead and provide process, tools, and cross functional guidance in CRO and vendor selection process, from RFI to Study Award. Includes establishing baseline and alternative scenarios.
  • Review processes/practices of strategic business importance to identify inefficiencies and/or areas of opportunity for improvement; be comfortable in challenging existing practices and develop innovative solutions that aim at increasing operational efficiencies.
  • Initiate and lead discussions to facilitate the refinement of the process scope, goals, and deliverables and identify appropriate team actions and risks.
  • Manage resources and vendors that provide project support and ensure they are effectively onboarded, managed, and delivering on expected milestones.
  • Engage teams to help establish a continuous improvement culture and execute advanced problem-solving activities.
  • May oversee and mentor direct reports and/or contractors, providing leadership and training to support professional development and responsible for demonstration.
  • Assist Roivant R&D team as needed on asset diligence
  • Assist Roivant Central in building process and infrastructure to support Vant family

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in Clinical Trial outsourcing and budgets
  • Experience in a small, fast-paced start up biotech is a plus
  • Experience with formats and process requirements to lead functional teams in CRO and vendor budget alignment
  • Experience in developing and negotiation of CRO/Sponsor budgets and Work Orders
  • Proven track record of guiding Sponsor through RFI, RFP, Bid Defense and Study Award for CROs and vendors
  • Ability to travel to CRO partners (as dictated by specific study needs), and New York main office, on an as-needed basis
  • Ability to deal with multiple priorities, multiple stakeholders, and aggressive timelines
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects/tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
