Ara Mermerian

Ara Mermerian has worked in the field of medicinal chemistry since 2004. Ara began their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, before joining Microbia, Inc. as a Senior Scientist I in 2006. In 2008, they moved to Ironwood Pharmaceuticals and held the roles of Senior Scientist II and Senior Scientist I, as well as Principal Investigator, Discovery Chemistry Lead. In 2019, they became Principal Investigator, Discovery Chemistry Lead at Cyclerion, and was later promoted to Principal Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry at Exo Therapeutics in 2021. Ara is currently employed as Principal Scientist Medicinal Chemistry at ROME Therapeutics.

Ara Mermerian began their education in 1994, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1999, they continued their studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Organic Chemistry.
