Ronin is looking for a Senior Informatics Manager - Data Modeling to join our Clinical Informatics team. 

About The Org

Project Ronin produces disruptive healthcare insight & clinical decision support technology to address the needs of providers and patients everywhere. The Clinical Informatics organization  represents the company’s subject matter expertise regarding healthcare operations, data and artifacts of those operations as well as the industry standards, mechanisms and approaches employed to leverage that data. Clinical Informatics at Project Ronin has the core responsibility to make data findable, useful and consumable. The organization views themselves as the drivers and owners for establishing the support systems & data transformations that fulfill their core responsibilities.

About The Team

Ronin is searching for a Senior Manager to work alongside of and represent the team of clinical data, modeling & standards experts within the company. The team is made up of senior subject matter experts with a wealth of healthcare data modeling and standards experience. This team is an early, upstream dependency in Ronin’s SDLC. As such, this team is one of the first points of contact for initiatives leveraging healthcare data across the company. This team is responsible for the development, expansion and maintenance of data models across the company in the support of application, analytics and AI initiatives alike. This team is responsible for translating, curating and vetted datasets & model features for consumers within the company.

About The Role

This role will be directly responsible for translating & coordinating company and cross team priorities into tasks, assignments and projects within the informatics teams. This role is responsible for ensuring that modeling standards, approaches and strategies across Ronin result in available, consumable and understandable data that meets the needs of consumers and users alike. This role is responsible for ensuring that the individuals across the team continue to be successful by supporting their work, representing their efforts across Ronin and being a voice and advocate of cross functional stakeholders within the team. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring needs, requirements and feedback from across the organization are addressed within the teams processes and ceremonies. This role will require regular interactions with both leadership and individual experts across disciplines including but not limited to data engineers, application developers, product and design professionals, data scientists and analysts alike.

Here’s what you will do day to day:

  • Intake, Translation, Cataloging and Prioritization of end user needs into initiatives, projects and tasks for data modeling experts & curation experts.
  • Utilization of project management tooling and systems (Slack, Jira, Mooncamp, Coda) to communicate to stakeholders and dependent teams updates and statuses of initiatives and projects
  • Work hand in hand with subject matter experts across Product, Data Science, Data Engineering & Application Engineering to ensure the continued expansion & maintenance of both FHIR based and non-FHIR based data models supports company needs and initiatives.
  • Provide and facilitate a brainstorm and sounding board sessions internally with the team of data modeling and standards experts for a broad range of topics and approaches.
  • Provide support, prioritization and resourcing for cross team projects requiring the query and exploration of FHIR and non-FHIR data, Python, PySpark and R based data manipulation and transformations.
  • Attend and engage in company business operations and agile ceremonies as the representative for data modeling & data set curation initiatives, interfacing with consumers, collaborators and stakeholders alike.
  • Lead and develop a team of experienced informatics professionals both on career sustainment and development paths.

Here’s what you will do often:

  • Coordinate, prioritize and execute with the modeling team for initiatives and projects including but not limited to:
    • Collaborate with Informaticists, Data Scientists and Clinical Subject Matter experts to perform clinical data exploration, analysis and data set curation.
  • Establishing, implementing and maintaining processes and systems that serve to organize healthcare data (FHIR & Non-FHIR resources) into centralized models for utilization across the company 
  • Coordinating and executing data modeling projects between stakeholders (Data Scientists, Analysts, Data Engineers, Application Engineers) and Informatics Team
  • Participate in and coordinate data mapping projects between Clinical Informatics Team and stakeholders to include but not limited to: Data Engineers, Technical Implementation Specialists, Application Engineers) 
  • Coordinate the creation of downstream models and views to meet the use cases dependent needs such as but not limited to: 
    • healthcare quality analytics, drivers of health outcomes, patterns of healthcare utilization, classification of patients.
  • Collaborate with Terminology and Standards Engineers (Systems INFX Team), Data Engineers & Application Engineers to develop ingestible convenience output for application engineers.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Clinical Subject Matter Experts, Informaticists, Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Application Engineers to perform feasibility and data needs assessments regarding product and feature development.

Here’s what you will do occassionally:

  • Coordinate, prioritize and execute with the modeling team for initiatives and projects including but not limited to:
    • Contribute to publications & submissions to professional standards organizations and trade groups
    • Contribute to Team involvement in professional standards organizations and trade groups such as monthly HL7 workgroups, AMIA
    • Lead training and education sessions at the team and organizational level
    • Review & contribute to data modeling and FHIR profiling efforts

Ability to demonstrate experience & subject matter knowledge leading projects, programs or teams responsible for:

  • Handling and simplifying complex data and content such as multiple representations, relationships and metadata
  • Designing and documenting information systems for multiple stakeholders and use cases
  • Developing and integrating quality assurance and data governance protocols and processes into systems and workflows ranging from audits to automated reporting such as dashboards.
  • Translating both standardized and non-standardized content or data into a logical, publishable, domain aligned relational structure such SNOMED Modeling, FHIR Modeling or Ontology Modeling.
  • Isolating and extracting healthcare processes, such as medication administration, from raw EHR, HL7, FHIR data, databases, data warehouse or other stores.
  • Implementing interoperability mechanisms such as: 
    • HL7/FHIR profiles
    • Concept Maps 
    • Value Sets
  • Implementing and practicing Agile Standards

The base salary for this role is $200-220k annually with stock options. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise & may vary from the amount above.
