RoomRaccoon was founded by Nadja Buckenberger and Tymen Van Dyl in 2017 with a mission to redefine hotel operations through our all-in-one hotel management system.

We are looking for a Lead PHP Developer who writes clean PHP code to a high standard, in a timely and scalable way that improves the code-base of our products in meaningful ways. We need someone who is a fan of Vanilla PHP and must feel confident with it. At the same time, you will need to be willing to get your hands dirty with coding as you enhance your leadership skills and attitude and grow into a Head of Engineering!   

What will you be doing?   

Coding, Troubleshooting, Architectural Design

  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in existing applications and new development.

  • Identify root causes and implement effective solutions promptly.

  • Deploy applications across multiple environments (development, staging, production) following best practices.

  • Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle.

  • Architect and design scalable solutions that meet project requirements and adhere to best practices.

  • Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) for code management.

  • Optimize application performance by identifying and addressing bottlenecks.

  • Improve code efficiency and implement caching mechanisms.

Development Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead the development of complex web applications using PHP and related technologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and developers.

  • Define technical solutions and deliver high-quality software based on requirements.

Requirements? 

  • BSc Computer Engineering Computer Science or Relevant Software Related Qualification
  • 7+ years’ relevant experience in a similar role with team leadership
  • Advanced knowledge of PHP language and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Solid experience in MySQL, Sass, Git, REST
  • Design, code and maintain applications using best practices
  • Troubleshoot, test and maintain the core product software and databases to ensure strong optimization and functionality
  • Excellent communication skills to both understand the needs of the project but also give feedback to stakeholders and input to other team members
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and experience working in an agile/scrum environment
  • Ability to work with an international team with international customers in different time zones
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease
  • Possess proficient analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Fluent English
