Director Of Diversity & Inclusion at Ropes & Gray

Kia Scipio has extensive work experience in the legal field, with a focus on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Kia is currently the Director of Diversity & Inclusion at Ropes & Gray LLP, a role they have held since September 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Diversity & Inclusion Manager at Fish & Richardson P.C. from May 2017 to August 2019.

In 2013, Kia joined Georgetown University Law Center, where they held various roles including Director of Small & Medium Firms and Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives, and Associate Director of Small & Medium Firms and Diversity & Inclusion. During their time at Georgetown, they provided career counseling and advising to law students, facilitated job and internship opportunities, and built partnerships with external organizations.

Before their tenure at Georgetown, Kia worked as the Manager of Professional Development at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP from April 2012 to October 2013. Kia was responsible for implementing a professional development strategy and overseeing the attorney evaluation process. Prior to that, they were a Senior Coordinator of Attorney Development at Paul Hastings from May 2008 to May 2012.

Kia began their career at the University of Baltimore School of Law, where they served as the Assistant Director for Professional Development & Externship Programs from February 2005 to May 2008. Kia also gained experience as a Legislative Counsel at the DC City Council in 2004 and as a Law Clerk at DC Superior Court from 2001 to 2003.

Kia Scipio holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Spelman College. Kia also has a Juris Doctor degree in Law from The George Washington University Law School.
